What is permitted - and what is not permitted?
The Kitsissunnguit archipelago is protected - see Home Rule Notice No. 11 of 17 April 2008 on the protection of Kitsissunnguit. The islands can be exploited commercially and recreationally with certain restrictions, see the sections, maps and signatures below.
Fishing for lumpfish is permitted in sub-areas 2 and 3 from 1 May to 10 June. In connection with lumpfish fishery in subarea 2 and 3, fishing gear shall be removed no later than 10 June. The gathering of plants for fuel is allowed in connection with fishing, hunting and trapping. All fishing equipment must be removed and taken away before 1 May. All forms of waste - including fishing waste, fishing gear and equipment - must be removed from the protected area.
